Hello Hello by Nev & Danny

Guest blog from Nev Dean

This is a song that I’ve just written with my close friend Danny Lee.
About a week ago I dreamt the verse and chorus of a song with the really hooky first line of “ Hello Hello” .  I didn’t think much of it at the time and played it to my wife Claire a few days later. She said she really liked it and told me to get to work on a song for the NHS and and essential workers.

I Immediately rang Danny and played the chords and melody down the phone asking him for some more lyrics and a middle 8 . He sent me a full new version of the song within an hour and a half and I started working on it .Unfortunately Danny couldn’t get to the studio because of the lockdown so I had to do the work of playing and singing on the track aided by Claire .In constant contact over the phone and internet  we followed the progress of the Covid 19 and compiled a video using poignant up to date photographs.

This is dedicated to all those fearless workers out there on the front line risking their lives to look after us..We have also set up a just giving page Supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.

Anxiety by Dawn Bland

(Guest Poem from Dawn Bland) Night time can be the worst, Your mind’s on overdrive, It’s almost going to burst. Everyone you know, Is doing exactly what you can’t, Sleeping soundly. No one’s around to listen to you rant, About all the mistakes of today. And all the worries, Some times about yesterday, When mostly your drowned, In sorrow and…

The Friendship Café

(Guest Poem from Dawn Bland Written about Spectrum People’s Café & Chat) We all found a place, We talk, We support each other, Here at the Friendship Café we are all friends. No judging, Just supporting each other often getting that hug you really need If your head’s a mess, Here you feel not alone, No more isolation, Here at…

Words

(Guest Poem from Dawn Bland Written about Wakefield Baptist Church) I turned up here messed up, You took the time to support me and advise me You encouraged me, To put down in words how I felt inside; So I wrote my poems, I’d been isolating myself, No motivation, Low self-esteem, Lacking in confidence; But everyone here believed in me,…

Break down the Barriers

(Guest Poem from Dawn Bland written about the support Dawn received from CAP Wakefield) Break down the Barriers smash down the walls; We need to get out there and spread the word! Stop the stigma, Educate people, Reach out; Life’s a struggle, We all need hope; Yes we are low on our luck, But there’s a reason I ended up…

Joyful Light (Guest post by Alan Gray)

On a day around the beginning of October 201O I was cheerfully cleaning the windows of my conservatory when, from nowhere, a word that I am unaware of ever having heard before filled my brain. The word came so strongly to me that I had to keep saying it out loud. What the word meant I truly had no idea…
